And now, back to your regularly scheduled program

So after the non-stop panic for a week to write write write, the holidays are finally taking over.

Last night was a party at Mark Rudd's South Valley haven. So many great people there! Had a wonderful conversation with Demetria Martinez about Cornell West and bell hooks, as well as the happy news that her most recent book -- Confessions of a Berlitz-Tape Chicana -- went for emergency second printing because it's been flying off the shelves!

Had a great chat with State Senator Dede Feldman, whose new blog is reviewed on Duke City Fix. We talked about her start as a journalist and her philosophy that all politics is communication, which is troubling because so many politicians are so bad at it!

Had lovely talks, too, with a soon-to-be-ex-employee of Quarters who has recently decided that he, too, like his parents, is a socialist. His girlfriend works in public health, and we had a conversation about how health care delivery in NM compares to socialist countries in Europe.

Just a whole party of thinking, creative people! What could be better? I love feeling the strong progressive community in the Q.
